Summary: | 碩士 === 臺北巿立體育學院 === 運動器材研究所 === 96 === R&A and USGA have limited the rules of club head’s development in recent years, including volume and outer dimensions. R&A and USGA especially make the rules of hitting face when striking a ball and had changed COR to characteristic time (CT) from a new testing devise which R&A and USGA proposed. Base on “Spring like effect”. It is indicated that when CT is higher, the distance will also become longer. To increase the stability of clubheads, the purpose of clubhead design is to add the moment of inertia (MOI) , but on the other hand it will normally decrease the performance on distance. In this case, the purpose of this study decides to modify the different structures in the back of the hitting face which can make the sweet spot larger and more efficiency. Furthermore, these clubheads will be tested by the Portable Pendulum Testing Apparatus which R&A and USGA announced for the test standard.
We used four driving clubs with various structures in the back of hitting face, and used the Portable Pendulum Testing Apparatus to measure twenty-five points on each club’s face to realize how the stability was on these four clubs. The questionnaires of these four golf clubs were tested by 19 professional golfers with 70±2 handicaps, especially on stability and accuracy when tee off.
These four golf clubs with different structures in the back of hitting face make an outstanding difference when in striking balls in these two methods from the research results. And the Portable Pendulum Testing Apparatus also can be used to measure the stability on golf club hitting face when reach the design concept what the golfers really need.
