However, it is a great challenge to interpret the articulation that was done 200 years ago. In this article, the main study will focus on J. S. Bach’s Sonata for Violoncello and Harpsichord in D Major No. 2 BWV1028. It starts with the discussion of composing style and Sonata da Chiesa in the Baroque Era. Following that, the development of Baroque music, and the differences between Viola da Gamba and the modern Violin Family will be discussed. With these foundations, the structural analysis of the work is needed. Finally, the writing concludes with the interpretation of authentic performance. The goal of this paper is to achieve the performing style of Baroque music when playing the work.
