The teachers can only retrieve their demand contents using keywords which can’t acquire their teaching materials accurately. In order to overcome the defects of traditional system, semantics-based retrieval system can make the computer understand the content which adopts the ontology theory to construct domain knowledge, employ semantic technology to process content metadata, and build many-to-many relationship between contents and concepts. The main purpose of this study was to design a semantic retrieval system for teaching content based on ontology. This study took geometry concept of elementary school as an example and tested the function of this developed system. We first construct geometry domain knowledge using ontology, analyze the SCORM-based metadata by means of Chinese word parsing and synonym technique, build up relationships and weights between contents and concepts. Therefore, when a user inputs in a key word, the system will find out satisfying results that the user really need.The results suggested by the system will be listed in the order of learning priority, according to the principles of spiral curriculum design.
