Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 電機工程系研究所 === 96 === Recently, the worldwide network service provider, the content service provider, and the broadcasting head-end are all devoted to develop IPTV technology. It is because that IPTV technology converges both the services and the technology of bi-directional communication and multimedia transmission, and provides more advanced interactive TV service. In 2002, DVB organization proposed the first open technical report about DVB services over IP networks. Till now they are continuously dedicated to standardize it as the DVB-IPI standard. The objective of this thesis is to build up a DVB IPTV system based on the DVB-IPI standard which specifies the IPTV system architecture and technology. The specified IPTV system contains the service initiation, information management system and reception environment. Besides, this thesis also proposes to optimize the packet dropping probability by considering its importance to improve the video transmission quality when the network is under congestion. Comparing to Early Detection (RED) algorithm, this thesis can avoid dropping more important video packets because of assigning lower dropping probability to them. This proposed active queue management algorithm is implemented on the NS-2, and it is successfully verified the video quality improvement under the congestion network.
