Summary: | 碩士 === 大仁科技大學 === 環境管理研究所 === 96 === There are about 80 to 90 universities that currently have service education (service learning), and most of them focus on conducting campus environment clean-up through campus cleaning and recycling. Through effective evaluations, we hope to determine the effectiveness of environmental clean-up in different schools and understand the planning, performance, and policies of each school’s service education. This makes the curriculum of service education more diverse, and student resources that are not yet utilized can be used for service learning, community learning, community service, and non-profit organizations to promote this curriculum in more schools in the future.
We sent questionnaires to students and administration staff to analyze the current status of service education in different schools so we can understand their methods and policies.
By analyzing the curricular cognition of students and administration staff, we see that:
1.Students’ cognition and willingness to cooperate are the foundations upon which students’ opinions match with those of the administrations.
2. Most of the respondents believe they are capable in the task of campus cleaning. This is probably due to the fact that most schools’ service education focuses on campus cleaning.
3. Students believe they only need to do the cleaning according to school regulations. They ignore that the curriculum is based on learning, and they do not yet fully understand the importance of learning.
The results of DEA (data envelopment analysis) shows us:
1.In terms of overall contribution, the “investment” criterion shows: floor/ground area (53.03%), student service hours(6.12%), students’ attitude(30.44%), garbage and human resource cost(10.41%). The output criterion shows resource recycle fees(6.04%), garbage process volume(24.27%), cleanliness score(60.28%), and recycling performance(9.41%).
2.The evaluation of cleanliness effectiveness in the current service education shows that students’ service hours are low and the human resource hours are clearly being wasted.
3. Among the 71 schools that underwent evaluation, 25 of them had a total efficiency of: 1.CCR(total efficiency)is 0.4906, BCC(pure technical efficiency) is 0.6314, and SE(scale efficiency) is 0.7164. SE is greater than BCC and CCR, showing that schools that lack efficiency need to improve their human resources planning.
