Life combines with internet, which totally changed people’s habits of gathering material and information. Through internet sharing, exchanging and transmitting various messages are handy and effortless in our daily life. However, some people who have intentions to falsify records, photos or famous paintings can also get others’ digital creations and compositions with ease. Encroaching on rights of the original creators has become a big issue today. That is why we have to take intellectual property rights seriously. No one wants their painstaking productions are imitated or duplicated by other unworthy persons. In order to defend original designers’ rights, digital watermarking has been valued gradually and has attracted more and more scholars investing their efforts in it. In the past, the outmoded embedding techniques, Robust watermarking and Fragile watermarking, can not make two important functions coexist--- copyright protection and image authentication. Therefore, a new embedding technique, Multipurpose Watermarking Scheme, was produced which not only overcame a big problem that Robust watermarking and Fragile watermarking can’t be put together in one photo but also let copyright protection and image authentication coexist.
