| Summary: | 碩士 === 南台科技大學 === 企業管理系 === 96 === This thesis examines the relationship between the development of banking system and economic growth in Vietnam using Vietnam provincial data from 2003-2006 and applying GMM techniques developed for dynamic panels. The results show that Vietnam’s banking system development contributes to its rapid growth through the mobilization of household savings channel. However, the loan outstanding of state sector does not contribute to growth since loan distribution by financial intermediaries is inefficient. Deep banking system reform aimed at correcting this inefficiency is desirable, and is expected to sustain Vietnam’s economic development in the future.
