Summary: | 碩士 === 樹德科技大學 === 建築與古蹟維護研究所 === 93 === Taiwan’s harbor areas have always been the key cultivation and development targets of the Hans people. There were already several river-port villages around Takao Port during the Ching Dynasty, and these villages, including Satecha Village, had quickly developed because of the commercial activities made possible by Takao Port. Compared to other villages, Satecha Village was relatively farther away from Takao port, but its commercial activities grew steadily since it was closer to the river channel, and the famous “old street” in the Takao area emerged due to commercial factors.
Due to the Japanese government’s management and planning over Kaohsiung during the era of Japanese dominance and Satecha Village’s easy access to railways, harbors, and land, this village had prospered quickly and the agricultural and commercial sectors were gradually developed into industrial areas. With the KMT government’s efforts after Taiwan’s Restoration, Satecha Village started to develop toward the back of the train station. Developments became even quicker, and the small streets that were known for commercial activities have evolved into Kaohsiung City’s core development areas.
The purpose of this dissertation is to focus on the old Satecha village and understand its developmental patterns at different stages by interpreting the relevant literatures, field surveys, and maps before determining the important issues and factors in this area through the analysis of the developments and constructions taken place in different eras. Therefore, this study focuses on the analysis of the changes and characteristics in the old Satecha village at different stages.
