As CMC (computer-mediated communication) getting more popular, not only the world we are living in has entered the cybersociety but developed the unique culture features differing from the past. The ‘Niceguy Card’ phenomenon is the distinguishing one and stimulating this research I do. The‘Niceguy Card’ means that someone(usually male) has devoted to whom he loves during long days, yet got refused finally. Thought it is sarcasm of gender relation, the discourse is rising and flourishing through the Internet, like BBS. Accordingly, there are three problematic points: How is gender relation going on in the Internet Era? What is the self-identity construction relating to the Other by CMC? Further, how do the subcultures which derive from the Internet work on the real life?
By multiple approach-text analysis、participant observation and depth interview(from: PTT, the BBS members of ‘Niceguy Club’), I figure out it is more flexible of gender relation management and becomes more diversity but more complicated at the same time. Found upon the apprehension, gender communication implicates much comprehensibility and influence among men and women. Otherwise, the self-identity is interweaved to the Other in CMC context. Affected by media traits and space-time presently, all relationship building and viewpoints are transformed. Consequentially, the importance of media literacy has to be raised than before.
To sum up, everyone practices various social roles by CMC and that is the spirit of democracy. What the insightful meaning of subculture is the constructive function to spread out the senses of gender communication, including patterns and evaluation. In other words,‘Niceguy Card’ is such a joking/mocking description originally of modern gender interaction to smooth over the embarrassed circumstance but mixed ‘kuso’ element to be some new conversion, like ‘Youngersister Card’ and so on. We can say that the neo-words , just like‘Niceguy Card’ , flowing from the network are the most effective processes to understand the youth subculture, moreover, to discern our existence deeply and vastly.
