Description
Summary:碩士 === 世新大學 === 圖文傳播暨數位出版學研究所(含碩專班) === 96 === A Study of Course Pack Publishing (Abstract) Print-on-demand Manufacturing Procedure (POD), based on digital printing technology, emphasizes on printing and publishing of small volume in a large selection of titles and is ideal for short-run printing, small volume, or frequently revised publications. Its strength comes from lowered economic scale due to its adoption of digital printing technology. Successful applications have been found in publishing experiments, customized books, or niche publishing market, such as government publications and academic publishing. Course pack, which is a paperbound collection of copyrighted materials from different source, is a customized publication. Starting as supplementary teaching materials or solution for difficult accessible texts, it has grown into a newly-developed publishing industry. The attributes of POD show that it may be the right solution for producing course packs. With copyright clearance efficiently exercised, preferably by copyright collective licensing societies, it is possible to put course pack publishing into operation. It might take some efforts for government officials, especially those of educational authorities, to help installment and promote the operation.
