碩士 === 世新大學 === 經濟學研究所(含碩專班) === 96 === This paper aims at thoroughly discussing the Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) industry, which plays an important role in the development of Taiwan’s economy. The DRAM industry, which requires high technology and large capital, has been developing since 1970s. The industry has been experiencing constantly regular and cyclic prosperity and recession. DRAM industry can be counted as a monopoly of high technology and large capital. The paper has collected important information of developing DRAM industry, of the process of developing DRAM, of the competition among manufacturers, and of production and sales. Meanwhile, the data, which has been analyzed, can be utilized for DRAM developers to figure out possible issues and solutions. By learning the concepts of developing a DRAM industry, of the innovation of products, and of the trade practices in the market, DRAM business runners can analyze how the concepts relate to the change of the market by applying professional ways of measuring the boost-and-bust economy. By discussing the manufacturers development and their tactics on DRAM industry under the boom and bust, people can realize what may bottleneck manufacturers, as well as how the industry works in terms of the changes within the economic environment and the technology innovation. The paper will discuss manufacturers’ policies and will provide the manufacturers suggestions of different issues. The purpose of the paper, therefore, is to allow DRAM owners to come up with possible decision on the investment, and is even to benefit the government, who takes the analysis conducted in this paper as an important reference.
