碩士 === 國防大學政治作戰學院 === 新聞研究所 === 96 === Abstract This study, through an analysis of the number of articles and relevant titles pertaining to Taiwan affairs, written in two elite American newspapers －“The New York Times”and “Washington Post”in the three years since the“Media Warfare”has been proposed by the Chinese Communist regime in December 2003, tries to examine the correlation between these two newspapers' reporting on Taiwan and the Chinese Communist regime's strategy of Media warfare. In addition, it also applies American poll data about Cross-Strait issues to prove the cultivation effect of international Media Warfare conducted by Chinese Communist regime to America people. The result of this study has shown that these two elite newspapers' attitude in their reporting of Taiwan affairs leaned toward a“neutral”position. However, the quoted sources of coming from foreign source had a tendency to increase in frequency. The Chinese Comminist regime's media attack on the international audiences by a strategy of diversion has been incessant, particularly in terms of using the international media to attempt to fulfill its policy of “legal warfare”. This effort is especially alarming.
