The Estimation of Dementia Incidence Rate and Prevalence Rates--Based on National Health Insurance Registry for Beneficiaries Claims Data Files

碩士 === 東吳大學 === 商用數學系 === 96 === The economic, social impact and burden caused by dementia have been proved to be severe and growing. In this paper, we use four groups of sample data provided by the National Health Insurance Research Database, namely R01 to R04（1996-2005）, to carry out a survey of dementia in Taiwan. The datasets we used contain all sample patients’ record of ambulatory, inpatient cares, registry and death date. Patients with International Classification of Diseases code（ICD）: 331.0（Alzheimer’s disease）, 290（senile dementia）, 797（senility）, 292.82（drug-induced dementia）, 291.2（alcoholic dementia）, 294.1（dementia in condition classified elsewhere）, 294.8（dialysis dementia）, 331.1（Pick’s）, 331.2（senile degeneration） or without the above codes but ever received medication exclusively for dementia are considered dementia in this paper. Firstly, incidence and prevalence rates of dementia in Taiwan by year and age are adjusted based on the changes in gender and age. Then we get estimates for the entire population and five-year age groups for each year from 1996 to 2005. The estimate of dementias appears to be within the reasonable range regard to the international documentation.
