Summary: | 碩士 === 東吳大學 === 音樂學系 === 96 === It is not popular for most of piano practicer to select works of E. Satie (1866-1925). His unique and creative composing style, however, did make certain influence on piano music of twenty century. By comparative method on three works of 《Gnossiennes》at his early stage and 《Embryons Dess�繁h�臃 》of his piano works period III, this thesis is trying to approach and learn the music language of E. Satie.
Whole his piano works covered Satie’s life span. They reflect various composing style at each stage of his piano works creation period. His works affected Debussy and Ravel on the harmonics; repeating style of composition affected the developing of latter Minimal music; elimination of bar line and time signature liberated his composition; simplicity of his composing style made its difference from the music by then. All these made E. Satie become a pioneer of contemporary, twenty century music.
There are no bar line, key signature and time signature in his creation throughout above mentioned two researching pieces. And the first time in piano music composing that used emotional letters note on it.
In《Trio Gnossiennes》, kind of Mode can be heard. In《Embryons Dess�繁h�臃 》, many other authors’ composing fragments were used. Both works’ structure and melody tempo used simple elements. By these, we could find he is extraordinary through the method of ultra simplicity and directness.
This thesis includes total six chapters. Chapter 1 contains briefing of E. Satie’s works and relevant bibliographical research. Chapter 2 contains introducing of E. Satie’s life and classification of his works periods. Chapter 3 and 4 focus respectively on author’s creation back ground, mode structure, tone and harmonics, melody elements and application, time signature/ tempo and gesture terminology of two researching pieces. Chapter 5 is an explanatory of performing on these two researching pieces. Chapter 6 is a conclusion of the whole research. This research would obtains a further knowledge and approach to E. Satie’s composing style by studying the early work 《Trio Gnossiennes》 and the work of period III 《Embryons Dess�繁h�臃 》. Hopefully this thesis can provide references to any successive researchers who will do research on E. Satie’s piano works.
