Considering some malicious merchant servers and malicious agents may attack other mobile agents for their own interests, it is critical to design a data protection mechanism for data carried by mobile agents. In this thesis, a key management and access control mechanism based on RBAC is proposed. Based on our proposed access control framework, we designed three key management methods based on one-way hash function. The major objective of our proposed key management is to speed up the key deriving procedure and save the storage space required for mobile agent data. Because our proposed key management and access control mechanism not only enhances the security of mobile agent data but also reduce the key deriving procedure, our proposed mechanism successfully extends the application of mobile agents.
