Before privatization the bank was obstructed by inefficient legislations and capital restrictions, which made it less competitive. Moreover, staff protested against privatization with certain worries about benefits and bank performance; however, privatization had lead to increased efficiency and profitability that reflects its market power. Now investors and staff had benefited from an outperforming share pricing as a result. After the privatization, the employees got rid of their bureaucratic minds and the reward system based on individual performance. Cooperative Bank has been one of the most active banks in Taiwan.
