Metallocene polyethylene was grafted with vinyl triethoxy silane first and then followed by the mixing of which with PP and clay. The clay incorporation was 2, 5, and 9 parts per hundred resins of mPE. The crosslinking reaction was conducted at 70℃ in the presence of water. The effect of curing on the mechanical properties and thermal properties was investigated. X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) revealed that clay was well exfoliated in mPE matrix. FT-IR revealed that addition of clay can decrease in -Si-O-CH3 groups(1104cm-1) but increase in -Si-O-Si groups (1018cm-1) and -Si-O groups (1045cm-1). TGA results showed that 5 % and 50% weight loss were enhanced and degraded temperature increased in the presence of clay.
