The charger is composed of Flyback and Boost converters. First, when the hybrid motorcycle is operated in engine driving mode, in order to prolong the life time of battery ,the generator of the hybrid system supplies power to charge a lead-acid battery of 12V by using a positive/negative pulse charging technique. In the same operating mode, the energy is released from the battery side to the primary capacitor at the negative pulse discharging operation. Secondly, when the hybrid motorcycle is operated in the electric motorcycle mode, the 12V battery is boosted to drive a 48V dc motor. Use of the boost converter reduces quantity of the battery and weight of the motorcycle. Furthermore, in order to reduce circuit complexity and cost of the system, a dsPIC30F4011 chip is used to implement a digital control circuit.
