The goal of this research was to help this group of consumers to improve the inconvenience of using mobile phones to achieve the ideal of a barrier-free society. First of all, the level of visually impaired persons were collected and analyzed to verify the difference in vision. Secondly, the literature and relative products were surveyed to design questionnaire and to carry out in-depth interview with target subjects. Consequently, the purposes of this research were as followed. (1) To investigate visually impaired persons’ preference for mobile phone shape. (2) To verify visually impaired persons’ preference for mobile phone texture. (3) Summing up research results, visually impaired persons’ preferred factors for mobile phone were proposed. The results showed that visually impaired persons preferred a top wide and bottom narrow shape. This shape helped the subjects to identify the correct direction. The preference for texture was flannelette and leather. It showed that the subjects preferred softer material. Meanwhile, the subjects in the interview preferred foldable mobile phones. The main reason was that foldable mobile phones could be instinctively recognized as on or off without learning. On the issue of material, the subjects preferred fashionably designed shape and material because they could have common conversation with their friends. Chih-Hsiang Ko 柯志祥 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 85 zh-TW
