Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 應用外語系 === 96 === Chinese is used as the mother language in both Taiwan and China. However, due to the separation of the two regions, the Chinese translations of English terms in both regions vary in many aspects. This study aims to propose suggestions for unifying Chinese translations of English terms between Taiwan and China. The researcher first compares and analyzes the data colleted from the sixth edition of Oxford Advanced Learner’s English-Chinese Dictionary embedded in the Besta Computer Dictionary issued in Taiwan and China; then the researcher cross-checks the collected terms with the translations on the websites of China Yahoo and ICIBA. The researcher then discusses the differences of the translations between both regions as well as the reasons which cause the differences. Finally, the researcher proposes suggestions for unifying the Chinese translations of English terms among Chinese-speaking regions.
