The main topics contains the analysis of light source stability and the roll of the semiconductor optical amplifier. Using this laser, a transmission of 25-km standard single-mode fiber and a direct modulation of the Fabry Perot Laser diode injection locked by our fiber laser are shown.
Firstly, characteristics of our fiber laser are compared with that of common lasers. Then, we discuss the influence of the use of a semiconductor optical amplifier, in our fiber structure, with the aid of the electrical spectrum characteristics of our fiber laser. Afterwards, a stable, tunable and equalization output power laser are demonstrated.
The tunable range of our laser is 1575nm~1605nm. The output power is more than -5.5dBm. The range of ER is 10.33~10.58dB, and the range of Q value is 10.23~11.75. Moreover, it is found that the transmission sensitivity is -19.5~ -19.8dBm for an external modulation 10Gbit/s NRZ signal and transmission 25-km single-mode fiber. Besides, the sensitivity is -29.8dBm for a upstream transmission by the injection-locked Fabry Perot laser diode and a transmission over 10-km single-mode fiber.
