Especially, baseball. It is one of the most popular sports in the world. According to the rule of baseball, it is up to the chief umpires to judge whether the pitch ball is a strike or a ball. Usually, a strike or a ball resulting in walk or strikeout may turn the result around. Therefore, chief umpire is very influential in baseball. Recently, there are many controversial judgment balls in baseball games. From time to time, hitters challenge the umpires, declaring that the judgments are incorrect. Accordingly, I design a system to identify if the pitch is a strike or a ball. It can work as a reference for the game to clear the hitters’ suspicion. In my thesis, two cameras with video capture cards are positioned in both sides of several calibrating objects. The notebooks connecting camera through 1394 interface calculate each calibration matrix of the cameras using the calibration feature point and QR-decomposition. The 3D position of the ball is identified from the calibration matrix. In my experiment, the notebooks and cameras are located 30 meters from the Home plate. The error deviations of X, Y, Z axles are respectively ±2.2cm, ±1.2cm, and ±2.4cm. Mon-chau Shie 許孟超 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 81 zh-TW
