Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 多媒體動畫藝術學系碩士班 === 96 === This study explores “accessible web design” from the perspective of web designers. Based on the webdesigners’ understandings and experiences of practicing accessible web design, this study discusses accessible web design from three aspects: “cognition of web accessibility”, “accessible web design”and “policy of web accessibility”. The researcher uses methods of on-line questionnaire and in-depth interview to collect data from selected web designers. On the design level, giving meaning to the website’s html code and content is very important for web accessibility. Designer must apply existing accessible technology to enhance the flexibility of a website for compatibility with various user agents. The partial understanding of “web accessibility” has misled the web designer’s andclients, thus, created many problems and extra works while working on accessible web design.
Thereare three conclusions made in this research:(1)On the cognition level, it is important for the webdesigners to understand “web accessibility” correctly. It means that the web designer must have a thorough planning at the initiative stage of accessible web design. An accessible website meansdelivering web information effectively, as well as completely to all users. (2)On the design level,giving meaning to the website’s html code and content is very important for web accessibility. Designer must apply existing accessible technology to enhance the flexibility of a website for compatibility with various user agents. This would realize the function of web accessibility and benefit the users.
