Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 工藝設計學系碩士班 === 96 === In the past six years, the National Crafts Award conducted by the Council for Cultural Affairs has become an indicator of Taiwanese crafts creation. A total of 49 pieces selected form the awarded works have been collected digitally by National Taiwan Craft Research Institute. These remarkable works not only reflect the standard of Taiwanese crafts and design industry, but also represent the cultural significant of Taiwan society.
Based on the qualitative methodology of biography and autobiography, this study intended to analyze the background of creators of these collected works. A technique of in-depth interview was employed to explore the background of creators from their childhood to adulthood. The focus of the questions included artists’ personal experiences and corresponding social context. This study attempted to describe each artist’s special background, personality, and the turning point or a key personage in their career. The aim of the study is to evoke people to appreciate and pay much attention to the value of crafts. The achievement of these creators could be a paragon to the youth, and most importantly, provided precious educational materials for our crafts and design education.
