Description
Summary:碩士 === 臺灣大學 === 新聞研究所 === 96 === Zhongliao Shiang in Nantou County was severely devastated by the 921 earthquake. The locals established Zhongliao fellowmen workshop, and applied to Council of Labor Affairs for subsidies. They enthusiastically persuaded local mothers into taking lessons, manufacturing products, and founding the “Number One Fairy Deer Lane Textile Workshop”. The members of the workshop included local daughters, daughters-in-law from other places, and foreign recent immigrants. With an aim to throwing off the shadow of the earthquake calamity, they dedicated themselves to creating handicrafts with local traditional cultural features by sewing handmade textile dolls. Women played an indispensable part in reconstructing the village industry after the disaster. The marginalized and disadvantaged village demonstrated their resolution in gaining a living. With the help of resources and assistances pouring in, mothers in “Textile Workshop” were united and devoted themselves to social enterprise. They have gradually become more self-conscious during the process, which imposed an impact on traditional female image in the village. These women not only came up with the approach to thrive up local industry but also provided a brand new and powerful image for capable women. “Textile Workshop” successfully managed the brand and intensively cooperated with many disadvantaged societies, which indeed achieved both business demands and ideal claims. Meanwhile, with the establishment of “Textile Workshop”, it was observed that these women contributed to the whole community germination. They recovered their own value during work and were willing to care about other women. The above-mentioned learnt experiences and self-development have become the most valuable assets of the brand. The procedure of starting their own career has turned over a new leaf in initiating community business.
