Summary:碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 教育學系(所) === 96 === The purposes of this study were to investigate the current status of global knowledge and global attitudes for the elementary school sixth graders in Taoyuan region; to compare the differences of students’ global knowledge and their global attitudes between different personal background; to analyze the relations between students’ global knowledge and their global attitudes, and to explore the forecasting abilities of students’ global knowledge and global attitudes on students’ personal background. The researcher compiled questionnaires about global knowledge and global attitudes for the sixth graders in Taoyuan region. The sample was consisted of 807 students with collected764 valid questionnaires from elementary schools. The data was analyzed by using the SPSS software, Independent t test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson Product-moment Correlation, and Stepwise Regression Analysis. The empirical results of the above study were synthesized as follows: 1. The global knowledge gained by the sixth graders was not satisfied, but their global attitudes were positive. 2. The result of the “Global Knowledge” questionnaires showed that there were significant distinctions among different school location, frequency of going abroad, source of information,mass media and social economic status of the students; however, there were no large distinctions among different sex,social textbook edition. 3. The result of the “Global Attitudes” questionnaires showed that there were significant distinctions among different school location, social textbook edition, source of information, mass media and social economic status of the students; however,there were no large distinctions among sex, frequency of going abroad. 4. Students’ global knowledge and global attitudes were positively correlated. 5. The students’ personal background variables can predict students’ global knowledge and their global attitudes efficiently. According to the results of this study, the researcher makes some suggestions for families, elementary schools, the society and the future investigations.
