Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 教育學系(所) === 96 === This research intends to further investigate the adaptability of foreign spouses to the new environment in Taiwan. Based on the findings, the researcher would like to offer some feasible suggestions, which may help the concerned authorities to propose relevant educational policies to effectively cope with the current problems faced up by those foreign spouses. This study has been conducted through qualitative research methods, data analysis and interviews with four foreign spouses, namely coming from Vietnam, Indonesia and mainland China, in Hualien County. The major findings of this study are listed as follows: 1.These cross-cultural marriages were mainly arranged by Taiwanese agencies or their friends. However, these marriages do not always go smoothly. The wives have been suffering from language and cultural barriers. 2.Literacy education and Mandarin classes have significantly enhanced their capability to adapt to their daily life environment, including the dietary culture. 3.In order to share the burden of their household expenses, most of the wives tend to find a job to offer substantial financial support. 4.It is not an easy task for foreign spouses to obtain citizenship from the authorities. 5.Whenever they are overloaded with stress and depression, they tend to weep and pursue deep understanding from their husbands.
