The purpose of this study was to discuss the current situation of elementary school senior grade students' Internet surfing in Ping-Tung County. The study analyzed how family impact on the behavior of surfing the Internet so that we can know the relation between every variable. This study adopts questionnaires on the topic of “Survey on the current situation of Elementary School Students Using the Internet”. General Survey was used to conduct a sampling survey on elementary school senior students in Ping-Tung. The total number of valid questionnaires was 505.And the data gathered from surveys was analyzed in times, percentage and Chi-square test. The following was the conclusions from the survey:
1. Most students use the Internet at home. They have used the Internet for 3 or 4 years.The frequency of using the Internet is once to twice per week. Students usually spent 30~60 minutes per time, 1-10 hours in a week on the Internet.The main purpose of students using the Internet is “search for information”. The most used Internet functions is “online games”. In addition, students mostly view “games” on the Internet. “Virus” is the greatest trouble for students.
2. Different sex gender of students have differences on “the location of the Internet”, “the frequency of the Internet”, “the hours spent on the Internet per time” and “the hours spent on the Internet per week”. Elementary School Senior Students at different grads have differences on “the years of using the Internet”, “the frequency of the Internet” and “the hours spent on the Internet per time”.
3. The parents who know how to use the Interent and courage their childen to use the Interent,and they provide the equipment of Interent with their children at home.For these reasons will promote “the frequency of the Internet” and “the hours spent on the Internet”.
