Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 體育教學碩士在職專班 === 97 === Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a progressive muscles weakness disorder. Most patients have signs of symptoms when they are between three to five years old. In the beginning, the skeletal muscles start to soften gradually, and the patient will have significant signs of muscular atrophy. About age of ten, most of patients have lost the ability to walk and need to rely on the wheelchairs. Finally, most patients may have respiratory failure and pass away by age of twenty. The objective of this research was to find the most effective learning activities from Somatic Movement Education to increase the strength of the muscle, to improve the living function, and to decrease the speed of muscular atrophy for the patients. This research was targeted on two patients who had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at A school in ChangHua county. During the research, there were twenty weeks of Respiratory and Movement Techniques Education course, which included the respiratory training, core-muscle and muscle-power training, the relaxing training, and the training of the use of the specific body muscles. In order to achieve the objective of this research, students’ feedbacks, teaching journals, and interviews were collected and examed with the pretest, the posttest ,the periodical test and other qualitative data to achieve the objective of this research. The result of the research showed that:
1. The somatic movement education course had a positive effect toward the patient and also maintained the muscle mess of the patients.
2. The somatic movement education helped to improve the sleeping quality and decrease the pain of one individual patient.
3. Respiratory and movement education had positive effect toward the researcher. The researcher was able to gain additional knowledge from the planning, teaching methods, and hands on experiences to improve his profession.
