Statistics from the Criminal Investigation Bureau and Internet surveys conducted by civil organizations reveal that female adolescent Internet dating has become a widespread youth practice in Taiwan. The objective of this research is to understand senior high school girls’ practices on and attitudes toward Internet dating in Taiwan, and to analyze factors concerning female adolescents' positive practices on and attitudes toward Internet dating such as their ages, parents' education levels, academic performances, mental conditions, associates, and subcultures. A quantitative approach was adopted – using female senior high school students during their second semester of 2007 in Taichung as target group. Samples, including 4 schools, 12 classes, and 315 students, collected in the way of crowd sampling combination. The following results were found: First, almost 70% of those interviewed consider Internet dating the liberation of one's body. Secondly, they regard the pornography industry as a legitimate source of income; nevertheless, 60% of them had some negative view of Internet. That shows while holding positive attitudes toward Internet dating, those girls consider it a "moral blemish" instead of "illegal conduct." Thirdly, those girl's ages, academic performances, allowances, and associates play minor roles in their positive attitudes toward Internet dating and their friends' practices on Internet dating while adolescent subcultures play a crucial role in them. This research contends that adults and female adolescents hold different viewpoints toward Internet dating owing to those girls’ high self-awareness of their bodies. A number of suggestions are made from the study: first, reinforce legal regulation of Internet dating for female adolescents. Secondly, increase their self-confidence through multiple learning. Thirdly, teach them to foster accurate judgments and reject inappropriate ideas from peer groups. Dr.JOU,SU-SYAN 周愫嫻 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 74 zh-TW
