The studied population was female university teachers from a stratified random sample of 66 universities in Northern Taiwan area in the school year of 2007. Research instrument was a self-developed structured questionnaire including perceived work-related stress scale, leisure coping strategies scale and items from the Short-Form 12 Health Survey (SF-12). A total of 510 questionnaires were distributed between April and May 2008 and 327 of those were returned (64% response rate). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, One-way Multivariate Analysis of Variance (One-way MANOVA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The study found that 1). The female university teachers perceived work-related stress mostly from teaching investment and research investment. 2). Leisure mood enhancement was the most frequently used leisure coping strategies, followed by leisure palliative and leisure companionship. 3). Perceived work-related stress of the female university teachers were negativity associated with their physical and mental health. 4). There was no significant association between leisure coping strategies and perceived work-related stress, and leisure coping strategies were not significantly correlated with physical and mental health of the female university teachers.
