<Abstract>
The purposes of this study were to explore the current status and difference of teachers’ professional learning community in elementary schools, and to analyze the impact of school organizational system on teachers’ professional learning community. In order to accomplish these purposes, it had conducted the survey using questionnaire on elementary school teachers in Taipei County. The questionnaires included the Development of Teachers’ Professional Learning Community and the Characteristic of School Organizational Systems had been compiled for using as a survey tool. The subjects were elementary school teachers in Taipei County. Questionnaires were handed out to 50 elementary schools, 671 were retrieved out of 770 questionnaires, and 657 were answered fully, and the return rate was 87.14%. Data obtained were analyzed by the statistical software SPSS12.0 for Windows using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis.
The research results were listed as follows: (1) The most popular professional learning community which teachers attend were mainly grade community and field community. (2) The development of teachers’ professional learning community reached a medium level and structural support was comparatively significant. (3) The development of teachers’ professional learning community did not different in gender, type of tasks held, and years of service. (4) The development of teachers’ professional learning communities did not different in age, educational level, years of service, and specialties of teachers. (5) The development of teachers’ professional learning community did not different in school area, school position, school history, and school scale. (6) School organizational system had a positive impact on the development of teachers’ professional learning community, and its predictive power was 15.1%-41.2%.
Lastly, some recommendations about teachers’ professional learning communities had been made respectively for schools, teachers, and subsequent research.
