Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between elementary schools’ organization culture and teachers’ work involvement. In addition to examining the positions and the implications of the organization culture and teachers’ work involvement, in order to understand the score differences of the teacher’s and the school’s background variables, it is also intended to analyze the degree of relatedness relating to the organization culture on the prediction of teachers’ work involvement.
This study employs a questionnaire as a research method, with the elementary school teachers in Taipei County as objects. In addition, the study employs the “Questionnaire regarding the study of relationships between the organization culture and teachers’ work involvement” as research tool, which consists of three parts: basic information, questionnaire on the elementary organization culture perception, and questionnaire on elementary school teachers’ work involvement, all of which are of excellent reliability and validity. In the pretest, there were 107 valid samples, which were analyzed with item analysis, factor analysis, validity analysis to verify the questionnaires’ reliability and validity. In the formal testing, there were 527 valid samples, which were analyzed with the method of descriptive and inferential statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, stepwise multiple regressions, etc. The following results are derived:
1. Concerning the scores of elementary school teachers on the perception of “the organization culture and teachers’ work involvement,” it is at the high level.
2. Concerning the teachers’ background variables and education background, the items of gender, marital status, age, years of service, education, duties, school area and school size, and school history are included in the organization culture perception questionnaire. There are significant differences on age, years of service, education, and current duties. there are no significant differences on gender, martial status, school area, school size, and school history.
3. Concerning the variables of teachers and school’s background, the variables as gender, marital status, age, years of service, education, duties, school area and scale, and school history are listed in the questionnaire for teachers’ work involvement. there are significant differences on martial status, age, years of service, and current duties. Meanwhile, there are no significant differences on the variables of gender, education, school area, school scale, and school history.
4. Concerning the correlation of the elementary school teachers in Taipei county, there shows a positive correlation between the organization culture perception and teachers’ work involvement.
5. Concerning the prediction of the elementary school teachers in Taipei county, The organization culture perception can make prediction of teachers’ work involvement.
6. Concerning the cardinal prediction of the elementary school teachers in Taipei county, the part aspect of “supportive culture” of the organization culture perception can make cardinal prediction of the whole and every dimension of teachers’ work involvement.
Eventually, based on the above results, this research is intended to formulate conclusions and suggestions for the references of the administrators in education, elementary schools, teachers and future references for related research.
