Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 自然科學教育學系碩士班 === 97 === This research aims at studying the variations of second-grade students’ “cognition”, “conservation attitudes”, and “affective attitudes” before and after offering the lesson “flying-over friends”, which incorporates “life education” into elementary schooling. The “cognition” is defined as their scores on achievement tests; the “conservation attitudes” include understanding, the affective attitudes, and behavioral intentions on conservation; the “affective attitudes” include four aspects: appreciation, respect, care, and tolerance. An experimental design featuring single-team, pre- and post examination was adopted for this study. Data were collected primarily based on quantitative approaches; however, auxiliary qualitative data were also provided for the study. Quantitative data analysis is based on the pre- and post-examination data from the achievement tests, the scales for conservation attitudes, and the scales for affective attitudes. Data were processed through t-tests in paired samples for analysis. Qualitative data analysis is based on learning sheets, student interviews, teaching notes, and records on planting and cultivation. Two second-grade classes from one metropolitan elementary school located in Taipei County were under this investigation. A total of fifty-eight students participated this teaching activities incorporated with the life education. The title of the lesson is “flying-over friends”. Sixteen classes were offered. In accordance with the goal of this study, the following conclusions are presented: 1. Incorporating the life education into the “flying-over friends” can raise students’ cognition on birds. 2. Incorporating the life education into the “flying-over friends” can raise students’ conservation attitudes toward birds. The auxiliary teaching activities for this part of study are to have students raise birds, play roles, watch movies, and discuss in groups, which help to raise students’ conservation attitudes in the aspects of the understanding, the affective attitudes, and the behavioral intentions. 3. Incorporating the life education into the “flying-over friends” can raise students’ affective attitudes. The auxiliary teaching activities for this part of study are to have students raise birds and plant beans, which help students demonstrate their affective attitudes about appreciation, respect, care, and tolerance. Keywords: Life education, conservation attitudes, affective attitudes.
