Description
Summary:碩士 === 海洋大學 === 商船學系所 === 96 === The environmental protection issue has become an important part in the shipping company’s management system to take on social responsibility. This thesis aims to analyse the deficiencies in environment protection of ships through collected data and provide suggestions to shipping companies to avoid the occurrence of the fault rate of PSC inspection. This thesis employs the synthetic analysis method, collecting the annual reports of the Paris MoU, Tokyo MoU, USCG, and Lloyd's Register of Shipping. The data of deficiencies in environment protection of ships based on the collected inspection results is summarised and analysed, and the reasons for their occurrences are investigated. This research simultaneously employs case study by examining and comparing the PSC inspection results of two domestic shipping companies to discover the impact of global environmental protection on the company. The research finds that the deficiencies of environmental items in PSC inspection are apparent to be seen and often repeatedly inspected. In order to tackle these deficiencies, this research suggests that the management division in the shipping company should file all inspected records of each ship and indicate those repeated inspected items and the causes for their occurrence, and then requires each vessel to improve preparation for PSC inspection. The company also need to improve or upgrade equipments of ships for reducing pollution. Consequently, those deficiencies could be improved and the risk of being detained could be avoided. Additional recommendations to shipping companies regarding improving shipping management system and PSC inspection are provided in this thesis.
