碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 應用經濟研究所 === 96 === Using bilateral trade and macroeconomics data from 1970 to 2004, the gravity model had been applied in the paper in order to estimate the trade costs. The imported tariffs, tariffs reduction, common languages, colony relationship, border effects, economic and trade organizations, and the degree of nation’s income had also be taken into consideration to analyze their relations to trade costs. The major findings are as follows: (1) With nominal imported tariff ration goes up, it will result in larger trade costs and smaller value of trade. (2)Those factors, such as common languages、border effects、economic and trade organizations, reveal apparently negative relation to trade costs. (3) It is a positive related between trade costs and colony relationship in basic model, but negative related in the interaction effect model. (4) On the basic model, the countries with similar income trade each other so that rich countries are favorable to bilateral trade. (5) On the interacted effect model, the effect is positive to trade costs as poor countries play imported or exported role alone. Furthermore, with the trend of increasing of trade values and decreasing of trade tariffs, the affection of some factors on trade costs is no longer important, which brings about globalization phenomenons.
