The multimedia information is shared extensively. However different user has different electronic product, network bandwidth and resolution , the development of video transcoding is highly desired . H.264/AVC is a new compression standard . It has higer compression ratio and higer quality. However it needs huge quantity of computations , and requires a lot computing time. This thesis proposes a new architecture for the H.264/AVC transcoder . Our method avoids a lot of time to calculate motion vectors for the down-sampled pictures . This architecture uses the homogeneous transcoder . It will perform pixel down-sampling , motion vector mapping , and the merge of the best reference and modes .We only need to send some important value to encoder .
