It is used commonly by folk people as skin care lotion for long ago. However, the systematic researches on this raw material are quite rare. This study beginning with the determination of the crude compositions and microbial content of stem juice bought from a producer. The preparation of facial cream and mask containing stem juice were followed and the efficacy of cream or face mask were determined. Skin water holding capacity, skin elasticity and whiteness are parameters to evaluate the efficacy of facial cream and mask. The safety and storage stability of the facial cream and mask containing stem juice of loofah were also determined. The results obtained are: The total aerobic bacteria count and Coliform of the raw material are 1.2 x 10<sup>3</sup> CFU/mL and < 3 MPN/mL respectively. After treatment, the total aerobic bacteria count reduced to 2.0 x 10<sup>1</sup> CFU/mL and Coliform content are < 3 MPN/mL. Stem juice of loofah it self and cream containing it are safety and caused no redness on skin. The cream pH did not change and are stable after sonication at 135W, 42KHZ, 50℃ for 5 min or centrifuging at 3000 rpm, 25℃ for 30 min. or high temperature storage at 50℃ for 4 months. The facial mask containing stem juice of loofah increased 23.3% electric capacitance increase ratio e. g. increase face skin wate holding capacity, particular to the skin of the cheekbone area after six-week test period. It also increased skin elasticity on the forehead area and the cheekbone area after six-week test period. It improved skin whiteness significantly on the forehead area and the canthus area. Cream containing stem juice of loofah increased 15.8% skin electric capacitance increase ratio after six-week test period. It also increased skin elasticity slowly during six-week test period. It improved skin whiteness significantly. In conclusion, stem juice of loofah improved skin water holding capacity, improved skin whiteness and skin elasticity.
