(2) understand different aspects of professional growth caused by new and old internship systems. (3) realize the diverse professional growth resulted from the background of the interns themselves. The study is conducted in the way of questionnaires and qualitative interviews. First, the subjects are middle and high school PE interns during 2006~2007, and all of them graduated from National Taiwan Normal University or National College of Physical Education Sport. Second, the researcher interviews middle and high school PE teachers who have been advisors in both new and old internship systems. The conclusions are as followed: (1)After internship, middle and high school PE interns in both new and old internship systems make progress in their professional abilities.. (2)After internship, middle and high school PE interns in both new and old internship systems make least progress in “communication with parents.” (3)PE interns with active learning attitude and those engaging in internship for longer time make better professional growth than those who are not. (4)After internship, middle and high school PE interns in the old internship system make better progress than those in the new system in “professional knowledge of education”, “guidance and instruction”, and “professional spirit and attitude.” (5)After internship, middle and high school PE interns in the old internship system make better progress than those in the new system in “professional knowledge in physic”, “ the instructional abilities of physical education and sports skill”, “the administration and management of physical education”, and “sports guidance and judges”. (6)Due to the differences of gender and age of the interns, the location of intern schools, the types of intern schools, there is great divergence of professional growth between these middle and high school PE interns. Also, whether the interns take the responsibility of being a coach of the school team or the advisor of the school sports club plays an important role of their professional growth.
