After the first motor ability tests, the test results were added up ordinal. Sixty 6th-grade elementary students were placed into experiment groups (boy 14, girl 16) and control groups (boy 16, girl 14) by s-type method. The experiment groups were underwent core muscular training 30 minutes each time, 3 times per week for 12 weeks, while the control groups didn’t undergo training. All the subjects performed the strength (back strength), muscular endurance (1-minute flexed-leg sit-up), balance (stork stand), flexibility (trunk extension), and coordination (shifting platforms sidewise) tests before and after training. An independent one-way ANCOVA was adopted to analyze the differences of basic motor abilities among different groups (α=.05). The results showed that there were no significant differences between boy experiment group and girl experiment group on basic motor abilities, but they improved significantly more than both boy and girl control groups (p< .05). In addition, there were no significant differences between boy control group and girl control group. The conclusion was that 12-week core muscular training could significantly increase elementary students on strength, muscular endurance, balance, flexibility and coordination.
