The research intends to analyze the musical interpretation related to the relation between Johannes Brahms and piano, then to discover the styles and features of Rhapsodies. Furthermore, to analyze the music structures of the 《Two Rhapsodies Op.79》, and to analyze the musical interpretation and performance of the《Two Rhapsodies, Op.79》by three aspects of tempos, dynamics, expression and skills. After this research, I found the two works composed by Johannes Brahms are a fusion of the Baroque and the Classic mingled with the Romantic elements. With regard to the musical style, Brahms applied the ternary form and sonata form to these compositions; For his composing style, he adopted sufficient elements out of the Classical and prior to the Classical features, such as counterpoint, consecutive tempos, consecutive main notes and dominant notes, and the arrangement of value adjustment on crescendo and diminuendo. His works consist of the elements of textures, harmonies and dynamics and completely present his Romantic expression through music, firmly performing the characteristics of heavy textures, harmonic varieties, and brilliant dynamics. In relation to performance and interpretation, the Rhapsody No.1 is focused on the expression of dynamics and sectional comparisons;the Rhapsody No.2 is focused on the expression of tempos, timbre varieties and immediate emotional transformation. We acquainted thoroughly with the rigorous musical form composed by Johannes Brahms through the analysis and interpretation of music, to express the thoughts from the deep inside, hence while performing a piece of Brahms’ works, it requires not only the well understanding of the skills of composing and performing but the most significance of intrinsic expression of music itself.
