Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 教管所教育行政碩士班 === 96 === The purposes of this study were (1) to understand the current situations of the attitude toward corporal punishment of elementary school teachers in Tainan County, (2) to compare the differences of the attitude toward corporal punishment on the teachers’ backgroud variables, (3) to discuss the relationship among cognition, affection and behavior of the attitude toward corporal punishment.
The subjects of this study were the elementary school teachers in Tainan County. The instrument of this study was a self-made questionnaire ”The Attitude Toward Corporal Punishment of Elementary School Teachers”. Questionnaires were handed out to 644 teachers. 581 questionnaires were effective and the percentages of the usable questionnaires were 98%. The collected data were conducted by the following statistical methods: t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson Product-moment Correlation.
The conclusions of this study were as follows :
1. The elementary school teachers in Tainan County had sufficient knowledge and understanding on the related corporal punishment laws, inclining to approval corporal punishment on the affection, but not incline to use corporal punishment.
2. The attitude toward corporal punishment of the elementary school teachers who were 41 to 50 years old and concurrently director was significantly higher than the teachers of other groups. However, there was no significant difference on the attitude toward corporal punishment based on the gender, years of serving, educational background, teaching grade, school location and school size.
3. There were significant positive relationships among cognition, affection, behavior and all of elementary school teachers’ attitude toward corporal punishment in Tainan County, which related to the affection high; there were positive relationships among cognition, affection and behavior of elementary school teachers’ attitude toward corporal punishment in Tainan County, which was the higher correlation between cognition and behavior.
According to the above conclusions, the suggestions were offered for the educational administration authorities, elementary school and teachers.
