This thesis discusses how to use the production technology to deal with the complex issues of product and operation related to the mass customization of Small Form Pluggable (SFP) Transceiver. By using the case study approach, this research explores the reasons for implementing customization, the range of the demand, and the impacts on the production technology for SFP Transceiver. A common platform and a support information system are built to assist the execution of mass customization. Through the supply chain management, standardization, modularization, postponement strategy, automation and flexible manufacturing, the execution process featuring a fool-proof method is constructed to effectively solve the issues in mass customization. Additionally, a management framework of production technology is also constructed to mass customize SFP Transceiver, which transfers customer demand into a systematic set of workable process elements. The framework appears to be adaptable to support an actual purchase order in the case. The framework helps the production with quick response, reduced errors, and supporting specific customer demand for the present and future configurations. Moreover, this framework can not only explain how to execute mass customization in the case study but also be applied in the initiation of massively customized production technologies.
