碩士 === 國立屏東科技大學 === 農企業管理系所 === 96 === After the Financial Institutions Merger Law took effect, the credit departments of farmers’ association are taken over by banks. Currently in Pingtung region, there are 24 farmers’ associations; among them, 12 credit departments in the association are merged by banks. When farmers’ associations face the situation that there is no profitable business from credit department, their business operation, performance and organizational function will run into trouble. Hence, leaders of farmers’ association need to learn with new idea, thinking, and strategy beyond boundaries of customary measures to transform the entire farmers’ association team into a diverse and new business organization in order to step towards goal of sustainable operation. Thus, it becomes an important issue to investigate the effect of leadership style of the general secretary in farmers’ associations on business performance. This study investigated department chiefs and employees in every level of farmers’ association in Pingtung region. With SPSS and LISREL statistical software, the structural equation model was used to verify the effect of leadership style of the general secretary in farmers’ association on business performance of farmers’ association and measure the goodness-of-fit. This study also examined the relationship between leadership style of the general secretary in farmers’ association and its business performance, in order to search for key elements of influencing business performance of farmers’ association. The results of empirical analysis showed that there is negative relationship between leadership style of the general secretary in farmers’ association and its business performance, indicating there is no direct relationship. Yet, there is direct relationship between leadership style of the general secretary in farmers’ association and its business performance through the effect of satisfactions from employees and organizational team, indicating leadership style indirectly affects business performance of farmers’ association. Finally, this study proposed context in management and academic research, and provided specific suggestions and references for government consultation department and farmers’ association.
