Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 社會發展學系 === 96 === This thesis aims to investigate the formation of a just nation, and to examine the hypothesis of the “original position” in Rawls’ A Theory of Justice , the concept of “justice as fairness”, and the theory of “ consistency of good and justice” that are involved in that hypothesis. The author attempts to criticize the view point on the formation of a just nation in A Theory of Justice, and to offer some opinions of a just nation based on the naturalism stated in The Republic.
The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is “Introduction”. In the second chapter, the author treats of the issue of “justice as fairness” in A Theory of Justice. Comparing with “justice as the harmony of virtues” and investigates whether justice could be equal with fairness. In the third chapter, the author discusses whether the hypothesis of “original position” is too simplified. Then the hypothesis of the allegory of the cave is examined. By contrast of these two hypotheses, the author investigates the discourse of justice in these two works. In the forth chapter, the “consistency of good and justice” in A Theory of Justice is examined. The author compares the “consistency of good and justice” in A Theory of Justice with the discourse of the good and of justice in The Republic and with the concept of “middle state”. The fifth chapter is “conclusion”.
