The main purpose is to outline the image of the object. Thus, further image processing can be applied to the detected edge. In this paper, the edge detection method is based on the truncated code block (Block Truncation Coding, BTC) and the concept of majority rule (Majority Rule). Truncated code block (Block Truncation Coding, BTC) has the advantages of high speed reconstruction and image quality. Common block truncated Code (BTC) include the Moment Preserving Block Truncation Coding(MPBTC) and the Absolute Moment Block Truncation Coding(AMBTC). Based on AMBTC, we propose a method that use the threshold to distinguish pixels for generating three bit maps. Then the three bit maps are adopted to detect the edge by applying majority rule.
