In Taiwan, it has happened in 1993 as the rate growing up to 7.02%. Population ageing is far from just an issue of numbers. It means more elderly people are living longer, raising the issue of quality of life and health services. In other words, a more affluent Taiwan today should be increasingly watchful of its swelling ranks of ageing citizens. Healthcare for the elderly encompasses a broad range of assistance with daily activities that both well and frail elderly need for a better quality of living in an extended period of time. The healthcare industry in Taiwan includes several divisions such as care services at home, in the community, and in the institutions. After comparing those service models in the developed countries, the authors argue a more friendly and respectful care service model for the elderly in Taiwan is critical to their independence and the level of formal support required. Thus, The authors conclude the present paper by suggesting an integrated model so as to better look after older people in Taiwan. Tsong-Shin Sheu 許聰鑫 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 152 zh-TW
