This research listened to their stories and unleashed their living experiences, how they empowered and acted themselves through learning, working and social commitment, and how they try to alter the stereotyped image of newly immigrant women. This research used qualitative research method and took the newly immigrant women of first cross-country organization – “TransAsia Sisters Association, Taiwan” (TASAT) as the research targets, 6 members of that Association were thoroughly interviewed, and it was found that they not only earned their own achievement, created power, but also turns peoples’ viewpoint toward them and influenced decision making of their communities and public affairs. They transformed themselves from “learners” in Chinese language class to “teachers” of multicultural curriculums, from those who needed to be “assisted” to those who “assist” police to solve some legal issues where interpretation is need. TASAT is an ideal place to empower their members for a better life, newly immigrant women now have achieved significantly, they are no longer considered as social problem, they bring new blood to our society, they are new assets to Taiwan. It is recommended that government or non-government organizations should arrange more training courses or activities to better empower newly immigrant women in the future. 游美惠 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 147 zh-TW
