Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors of the willingness about professional development of elementary teachers in Kaohsiung County and Kaohsiung City. In the mean while investigation the relationship about motivational factors、motivation of further education and willingness of further education. Samples come from the teachers at elementary school in Kaohsiung County and Kaohsiung City. The background of teachers and motivational factors and the motivation of further education and the willingness of further education as variables of this study. The purposes of this study was as follows: (a) to realize the situation of motivational factors and the motivation of further education and the willingness of further education of elementary teachers; (b) to understand the different in motivational factors and the motivation of further education and the willingness of further education of variables of different background. (c) to realize the relationships of motivational factors and the motivation of further education and the willingness of further education of elementary teachers. (d) according to the conclusions of this study, the research offers some suggestions as references for the administration of elementary schools and further study.
To achieve the research purposes, we collected the relative theories and literature, and went on by analyzing and discussing the related concepts based on the foundation of theory base and research instrument. Then we choose 720 elementary teachers as our samples, which were selected from 60 schools in Kaohsiung County and Kaohsiung City. Finally 704 effective questionnaires were reclaimed, the questionnaire recovery rate market 98%. Questionnaires for investigation of related factors of the willingness of further education was used as the tool of research. Besides basic data of writer, the questionnaire is separated into 3 parts: motivational factors questions, the motivation of further education questions, and investigate of the willingness of further education. The data collected was analyzed using statistics methods, including descriptive analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, percentage homogeneity x-square test , Pearson product-moment correlation, and point-biserial correlation.
This research indicated the following conclusions;
1.Among motivational factors of elementary teachers, provide the opportunity of study is the best one.
2.The motivation of further education of elementary teachers shows medium-high degree, and the degree of “capability-enrichment” is highest.
3.Most of the willingness of further education of elementary teachers were tend to continue to learning.
4.Research shows that teachers of male, married, as directors in academic office, and served in outlying area present better involvement level in motivational factors.
5.The elementary school teachers, those concurrently acting as the supervisor or section head have higher perception of the motivation of further education.
6.Research shows that teachers of married, young, less-year of teach, , served in small size or outlying area, and non-master present better involvement level in the willingness of further education.
7.Teachers with better perceptions level in motivation factors show better in the motivation of further education.
8.The better sense of “autonomy of work” and “provide the opportunity to learning” in motivational factors, also better in the willingness of further education.
9.Teachers with better perceptions level in the motivation of further education show better in the willingness of further education.
