Qigong is one of the major healthy exercises in Chinese culture. With its emphasis on adjustment of mind, breath and body, Qigong lasts for over thousands of years in the Chinese world. This present study aims to understand the status of body, mind, and spirit of the Qigong exercisers, and to explore their motives and attitude of learning while practicing Qigong. As the result, the study tries to give teaching suggestions to the related Qigong groups.
This study adopts qualitative observation and analysis, and uses thematic analysis in sampling. The participants are six senior Qigong exercisers of Kaohsiung Qikong Association and their learning periods are from three to seventeen years. By semi-structured interviews, the study gets the conclusion and suggestions as follows:
1. Most of the Qigong exercisers are suffered from their healthy problems before contacting with Qigong.
2. In the aspect of body, Qigong can increase immunity from disease and helps to heal human body.
3. In the aspect of mind, Qigong can increase self confidence, tolerance, and relaxation.
4. In the aspect of spirits, Qigong exercisers are easier to recognize reincarnation of lives and with the heart of humility, thankfulness and love.
5. Human being is composed of body, mind and sprits and the three elements are interacted; while, among them the spirit is the major power to exceed and improve life quality.
6. The learning attitudes of the Qigong exercisers are insistency, consistency, and consulting others.
7. Those service-oriented Qigong groups are easily to be accepted by the public.
8. This study recommends that Qigong groups should supply knowledge and consultation in the field of spirituality.
9. This study also recommend that to explore the interaction of body, mind and sprits and spiritual further influence.
